If I had never seen a zombie movie before, and you were to introduce me to the genre, what would be your pick for the first ten zombie movies I should see, and the order in which I should see them?

Night of the Living Dead, the original.
Then of course:
Dawn of the Dead (original)
Day of the Dead
Land of the Dead.

THEN you can see Shaun of the Dead and the Dawn of the Dead remake.

Becky, my personal choices:

1. Night of the Living Dead (Romero)
2. Dawn of the Dead (Romero)
3. Return of the Living Dead (Dan O'Bannon, source of the catchphrase, "Brains")
4. Evil Dead II (Sam Raimi. Skip Evil Dead for now, make it up later)
5. Zombi aka Zombi 2 (Lucio Fulci)
6. Day of the Dead (Romero)
7. Brain Dead, aka Dead Alive (Peter Jackson)
8. Land of the Dead

Any two of the following, in no particular order: The Evil Dead. Dead People/Messiah of Evil (rare, but great). Return of the Living Dead part III. Zombi 2 (aka Zombi 3). Zombi 3 aka Hell of the Living Dead (Bruno Mattei -- this movie is notorious for sucking extremely badly). Stacey (Japanese video; I can't remember the director's name; extreme violence, bad acting, philosophy.)

Bonus (not really Zombie movies): Invisible Invaders (1950s monster movie that clearly influenced the post-Romero zombie genre). Bruce Campbell vs. the Army of Darkness (less a zombie movie than a Xena precursor with ultra-violence). I Eat Your Flesh (last of the old-fashioned voodoo zombie movies). White Zombie (the original voodoo zombie movie; Bela Lugosi is great). The Serpent and the Rainbow (an updated voodoo zombie movie).

Also, I've always heard good things about the "Tombs of the Blind Dead" movies made in Spain in the 1970s, but I haven't seen of them yet. Oh, and Gore DeVol is showing "Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things" sometime this month. It's online and free. I haven't seen that one yet either, but it's supposes to be good.

The Blind Dead movies are great. And so is "Children Shouldn't Play...". Both were featured in Rue Morgue this month. Speaking of which, they plugged your blog in Rue Morgue, Tom! Now don't eat my brains, please.

That is a sweet deal. If I didn't have the movies already, I'd buy that package in a second.

My favorite zombie movie is "Barney's Big Beach Adventure." I'm not advocating dino violence here, but someone should eat Barney's brain.
If he has one.

Uh oh, franharold6505, now you've gone and done it. The problem with eating spammers' brains is that they're so small and thin. Hardly worth eating. You gotta put tabasco on 'em.
